Description
The Ultrasound-Guided IV Access Insert is designed for realistic training in ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous access.
The insert features anatomically positioned veins, arteries, and bone structures that can be visualised using ultrasound. The veins compress under probe pressure, while the arteries maintain their shape, providing realistic visual and tactile feedback during scanning and vascular access.
The custom-developed phantom material is optimised for ultrasound imaging, providing clear visualisation of the underlying anatomy while maintaining realistic tissue and needle interaction.
The veins contain simulated blood, allowing trainees to observe blood return when vascular access is established. This provides immediate feedback on catheter placement and enables trainees to assess whether the catheter has been correctly positioned within the vessel.
The insert can be refilled with simulated blood when needed, allowing for repeated training sessions without replacing the insert.
Trainees can practice ultrasound scanning, vessel identification, needle tip tracking, ultrasound-guided venipuncture, and IV catheter placement in a controlled and repeatable training environment.
The insert is designed for repeated use and can be easily exchanged in the Lower Arm Phantom, allowing users to switch between ultrasound-guided and conventional IV access training.
